Some TV shows you watch and then move on to the next one. Others, come to your mind ever so randomly when you least expect it. We all have those few shows, don’t we? Today, I am sharing shows which are it for me. Without much further ado, here’s the list, in the order I discovered them in-
My favorite part of Sherlock are the mind games. And Benedict Cumberbatch of course, or as the internet sometimes likes to call him, Buttercup Cumbersnatch. Filled with some brilliant writing and story lines based on the books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s books, you really have to use all your brain cells to keep up.
Fair warning though, only 13 episodes of Sherlock exist across four seasons. And there is no news of season five coming anytime soon. But trust me, it’s still worth the watch!
All episodes of Sherlock are available on Netflix or your viewing pleasure.
2. Agents of Shield
If you’re a fan of Marvel and superheroes like I am, you’ll definitely like Agents of Shield. Super powers, super heroes, super villains, this show has got them all. Keeping in mind that though the show exists in the same universe as the Avengers, the characters from the show don’t and will not appear in the films(according to the makers), no matter how much the fans (read: me) might want them to.
You can watch Agents of Shield on Netflix.
3. Doctor Who
The thing about Doctor Who is not to judge it in just one episode. It’s an acquired taste that requires a little patience and once you do come to like it (if you do), there is a gold mine of episodes, from the reboot to the classic to the specials.
The show features science fiction, outer space, aliens and central London. If you like any of these things, Doctor Who would be a perfect show to binge watch. And with the latest regeneration of the Doctor being a woman, it’s a great time to be a Whovian!
The trailer featured is for series two but I would definitely recommend starting with series one.
Doctor Who’s available on Amazon Prime Video.
4. Stranger Things
A show with science experiments gone wrong and missing kid(s), Stranger Things has powerful storytelling and some even more brilliant acting. Oh and it’s set in the 1980’s. The sound tracks are also awesome. You should definitely not miss out on the three action packed seasons of this sinister sci-fi series (with hopefully more to come!). You can watch Stranger Things on Netflix.
5. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
I watched all the seasons of B99 in 2019 and I know I am very late to the party, but better late than never, right? The most unique thing about Brooklyn Nine Nine is that it covers a range of important issues intermingling them with fun, without compromising on any of the humour. Also, Jake Peralta is the BEST fictional boyfriend ever. Period. The first five seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine are available on Netflix.
6. Good Omens
This list originally contained five shows only. But when I watched this apocalyptic mini-series very recently, I knew my top 5 had to become top 6. Based on the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet, Good Omens is a perfect blend of comedy and darkness. Also, if you do watch it and don’t ship Aziraphale and Crowley, you need to watch it again. Good Omens is available on Amazon Prime Video.
